Priory Fields have been a source of sanctuary for thousands of Hitchin residents during the COVID pandemic; whether walking the dog, running or simply out for a stroll they have provided some much needed fresh-air.

Hitchin Priory Cllr Simon Harwood said, "Whilst not a formal Area or Outstanding Natural Beauty like the Chilterns, albeit it very close to its border, we aspire to secure this wonderful area for future generations.

The current local plan sees this area protected, for the moment, but the landowner and developers have their eye on future development. With some schemes suggestion the development of over 2000 houses on the site. With this in mind, the only way we can secure this site, is to bring it under our ownership, using it as a public asset for health and wellbeing.

Support us and bring this beautiful area under public ownership!"
